Who We Are

We are the Women’s Caucus for Art Florida (WCA-FL). Located mainly out of Saint Petersburg, FL. The current Chapter operating out of St Petersburg, FL known as WCA-FL was formed in January 2019..

Florida has a long and active WCA history. The origins of WCA in Florida go back to the Miami Chapter which formed in 1972 at the beginning of the Feminist Movement. They were active for 25 years finally closing their doors in 1997. There was also the Sarasota Chapter active for 10 years through the 1990’s. The Fl Chapter was initially the Central Fla Chapter, as there were 3 chapters in Florida in 1994 when we were formed. When the other two chapters(Miami and Sarasota) dissolved, the Central Fla Chapter became the WCA-FL Chapter, which has now moved its nucleus to beautiful St Petersburg.

THIS is the history of WCA in Florida. We have been around in Florida a long time. Our group is dedicated to recognizing and promoting local women artists in the the community of St Petersburg.

The local women of the newly reorganized WCA Florida Chapter whole heartedly support National WCA’s mission of empowerment, social justice and art in the service of societal transformation. The networking and personal expansion potential have drawn us to the WCA. We are free-lance careerists, retired and self-employed artists, art teachers, professors, students and craftswomen working in art related fields and regularly exhibit and perform our art. We recognize that art brings us together. This group aims to remind us of feminine initiative and persistence, often overlooked in society.
